Working with Jesse has been the epitome of a personalized experience through the MBA applications, and during the process, he has functioned more like a friend and counsellor than an admissions coach, and his approach of understanding and building a story for each candidate to tell the world felt like a unique and interesting approach. Without a doubt, through working with him I gained a much deeper insight into myself as a professional and a person, and I would like to elaborate on why that is.
The fundamental approach that he followed was getting to know me as well as he could before we could dive in to real essays. The assignments we did together were of extensively writing about my various experiences as a professional of various natures and doing these exercises surprisingly brought out many significant processional memories which I had forgotten. As the assignments went on, new memories from my high paced years of work experience were being recalled and they reminded me of how the process of me growing and maturing was undergoing underneath the surface.
We even had conversations unrelated to just work, as we talked about certain aspects of my personal life. This is where his sharp psychological insights beamed out into the open as I felt comfortable talking to him, and he tried to understand my fundamental make up as a person. This equipped him, intentionally, with the knowledge of me as a person and which approach we were going to take through the essays and what was the story that we were going to tell everyone who listened through the admissions processes.
I was looking to apply to the MBA programs at IE Business School in Madrid and University College London. However, alongside I had applied to EDHEC Business School as well and after a couple of months of us working together, I got the acceptance from EDHEC, I chose to finalize it since the scholarship that I got was higher than anything I would’ve gotten at any other school when combined with the numeration commitment. Regardless, I am sure that the insights gained while working with him were of high importance in my interviews at the EDHEC MBA program!
